4/26/2002:
Changes are moved from the Beta test site to the Live site. Here are some of the changes:
1) On the update screen, there is now a preferences section that allows
you to select whether or not you want to receive promotional e-mails or newsletters,
an advanced user setting which lets you turn off much of the instructions, and a
flag to select whether or not you want to see thumbnail pictures with search results.
2) Ads are now interest selectable. For activity/training partner
ads, you can now select a specific interest on an ad. For other ad types
(like the relationship ones), you can select a 'general' interest. This will
help people narrow down ads to exactly the interest they are looking for. (It
used to be based off profile interests.)
3) The basic search, detail search, and interest search screens can now
search for ads or profiles. The basic search has a 'profile only' selection
in the search for field for profiles, otherwise, it is searching for ads. The
other searches use a radio button to select profiles or ads.
4) The handle search now searches for, and returns active profiles.
With the five searches (handle, basic, detail, interest and drill down), it encompasses
every situation we could think of to try to find people.
5) We now have www.Meet-Outdoors.info, www.MeetOutdoors.com, and
www.Meet-Outdoors.com. All addresses point to the site, and promotional
info will now use the www.Meet-Outdoors.info.
6) The custom screen saver is complete, and has a page of it's
own. It can be downloaded with 22 of my best pics. The screen saver
program can also be downloaded separately, as can the pics.
7) There is a new link www.Meet-Outdoors.info/screensaver as well as
www.MeetOutdoors.info/screensaver and www.Meet-Outdoors.com/screensaver that goes
right to the page. Any of the new page links can be accessed from any of the site
URL's.
8) The pictures are updated on www.adventure-geek.com/photos.htm. You
can now get Medium Res and Low Res versions of each pic, and the categories are also
updated. The photos are now in chronological order.
9) We created a promotional page for describing our benefits that we can
offer to our partners, as well as including our logos for people to download to use
with promotional items or links to our page. This can be accessed from any of the
Meet-Outdoors addresses/Logos and MO Address/Partners. (i.e.
www.Meet-Outdoors.info/Logos, www.Meet-Outdoors.info/Partners, etc.)
10) There is a new Misc button which contains a group of links to pages
that are important to keep track of, but not important enough to warrant an
individual navigation button. This page includes links to the new
screen saver, press release, newsletter, and partners/logos promotional pages.
11) There is now a free form description field on the profile that you can
use to describe yourself.
12) Drill down now gives more detail information about members at the
last search level.
13) The view/edit interests link under the update button now has paging navigation
links, as well as a display all link. There are also two buttons at the bottom now. A
continue button which saves the current page and takes you to the next page, and a
finished button which saves the page and takes you back to the main update screen.
14) The create ads and view profile screens now show relationship type and
relationship level for each ad.
15) The detail search and interest search now have an 'Updated date' field that
will search for the last updated date on either the ads or the profile, depending on
which type you are searching on.
16) Generated passwords for new accounts are now in upper case. Some
confusion between a lower case letter L(l), and the number one(1) was occurring.

11/2001:
Earn swag for helping us grow! Every quarter, you can earn Meet-Outdoors
merchandise based on your referrals. From now until
June 30th, 2002; if people you refer become members, you can earn shirts and/or
bandanas. For every 10 referrals, you get your choice of a free T-shirt or bandana.

10/13/2001:

08/2001:
Because of our ISP closing port 80 in fear of the Code Red Worm virus spreading,
the www.Meet-Outdoors.com site was down for a couple of days. We apologize for
any inconvenience. We have since redirected our site to make sure that the
site is up, and that we are not at risk for propagating the Code Red virus.
Furthermore, we have also applied all of the appropriate patches to make sure we
are protected.
08/2001:
The Interest Level Selection page has been updated. When you update your profile and select
the interests you are interested in, you will notice that the list has been broken up into
pages. Each page now lists 25 interests per page. You can go to any page you want by
simply clicking on the appropriate links. Remember to update the interests on that page by clicking
on the update button.

The Chat link is now live! Engage in live chat with other logged in members in
one of our chat rooms!

We added a couple of new interests including snowshoeing, walleyball, and more.
We also re-arranged some of the like interests, to make them easier to find.
For example, we now have Biking - Road, and Biking - Mountain; so they are
grouped together and easier to find!

Meet-Outdoors.com Officially went live in June of 2001! We look forward to
helping you!
Here are some of the reasons why Meet-Outdoors is better than
other meeting sites on the web!
- It is Outdoor based. We have found no other sites tailored to
outdoor activities.
- The ability to enter, and search upon, both interests and interest
levels!
- Safety of your personal information, no members will ever see your
name, address, e-mail, or credit card information. Country, State, and
City will be used in the searches, however.
- Anonymous e-mail communication to other members. You have complete
control of revealing your information to other members!
- Anonymous e-mail messages are sent to you through the e-mail address
you specify in your account profile. This means that you do not
have to log back in to the site to check to see if you have any new
messages!
- The ability to enter multiple ads. You could be looking for
an activity partner, as well as a relationship. Each can be
a different ad!
- All searches are open to everyone. Many other sites restrict detailed
searching to members only. We give you access to all searches so you
can be certain that there are people you are interested in talking to,
BEFORE you pay ANYTHING!
- Right now, EVERYTHING is FREE! It will ALWAYS be free to
keep a profile active, keep ads active, and do all of the searching.
In the future, the only fees might be
inexpensive pricing on anonymous e-mail communication. See the
Refuel page for details.
- Multiple searches are available with varying levels of
complexity. From searching by a handle, to searching by
specific interests with specific interest levels. You can
pick and use whichever search best meets your needs!
- Drill down into database members by location by interest to find local
members with the desired interests.
- Convenient control of all personal contact, personal information, interests
and interest levels, and account information from separate sections under the
update page.
- No annoying pop-up window advertising.
- Complete control of correspondence such as newsletters and promotional
e-mails.
- A hot list and an ignore list to track people you want to correspond
with, and to specify which users you do not want to receive e-mails
from.
- The ability to enable or disable at two levels. You can enable/disable your
entire profile, or you can enable/disable specific ads.
- An easy way to send referrals to other members. If you have
completed filling out your account, all you have to do is type in
the e-mail address. We handle everything else for you!
- Convenient and easy navigation, with an intuitive user interface.
